Darkness is a really cool visual way of seeing the sunrise, sunset, and moon phases. Users can add multiple cities and see the time of day and even the amount of daylight that each city got. Great app.

Darkness is an advanced world clock with some unique and interesting features. See the time for sunrise, noon, sunset, moonrise and moonset for any city in the world on any date, plus a whole lot more. Darkness features a huge database of well over 20,000 cities. Custom cities can be added in the unlikely event that you can’t find what you’re after. A special ‘Current Location’ city can also be used, which will track your position dynamically using GPS, giving you sunrise, sunset and other information for exactly wherever you may be.

✭ Sun ✭
See the times for sunrise, noon, sunset and all 3 twilights plus azimuth values and more

✭ Moon ✭
See the current moon phase, dates for the next eight major phases, moonrise, moonset and more.

Darkness does not require an Internet Connection.

Great - 5 stars - November 3, 2009
Just plain great app. Gold standard. I'm guessing that updates will make it even better. Glad I spent the buck.
This program rocks! - 5 stars - November 2, 2009
I do a lot of hiking and other outdoor activities and knowing when the sun will rise and set is important so I make the most of my day. This program is perfect for what I do. It tells me the sunrise and sunset times for my location (no matter where I'm located), and I can also save the locations of places I frequently visit.
Don't buy this app. Update - 1 star - October 21, 2009
I bought this app mainly to use in planning times to photograph moon rises. From the info I expected it to show the altitudes for the moon as well as the sun. It only shows the altitudes for the sun. I have emailed two times for help and not received a response either time. They don't support the app, don't buy it. I have emailed several times asking for help getting this app to show the altitude for the moon and have not received an answer. Because of the total lack of support for this app I would like to change my rating of 1 star to 0. Don't buy it.
Pretty Neat - 3 stars - October 15, 2009
I like this app because I live in a cool place where we have very short days in the winter and very long days in the summer. When our days are getting longer or shorter, it happens at a very fast pace. So we will lose 5-10 minutes off each day or vice versa. I thought this would be cool to see what time the sun is going to rise and set. I also like that it includes the twilight times because sometimes we are in daylight for an hour or more, but the sun has actually not even technically risen yet. I only wish it would tell me what phase the moon is in too. Sometimes the moon rises are in the middle of the night, and when you factor in the overcast skies, it is hard to know when to look for it. I didn't find any use at all for the azimuth/altitude though.
Highly recommended - 5 stars - October 11, 2009
Love this app. Works just as advertised and the look and feel are top notch. Highly recommended.
